Me and my sister and the new Mencap building
Today there have been a lot of lovely videos for World Down Syndrome Day about friendships, from school friends to brothers and sisters. This made me think about my sister. She is my friend and she supports me in everything I do. Right now she is training to run the Belfast marathon and she is doing it to help me help Mencap.
As part of my work as a celebrity ambassador for Mencap I am helping them with their new Children and Family Centre in Northern Ireland. Last year, me and my sister went with my mum to see the centre being built. We all wore hard hats and bright yellow jackets to go round the new building. It’s finished now and opened in January. It is a great place that needs support to keep going. The garden wasn’t finished when we went but they had plans for lots of areas for kids to play and the building windows were low so that little kids could see outside. They thought of lots of cool stuff. It is good for the community and a cool place for kids to be with their friends and make new friends.
Mum and I will be at the marathon to cheer for my sister and all the runners. If you would like to help her #doitformencap please sponsor her in the Belfast Marathon. Thanks 🙂
