GMC training film: Wood for the Trees

The General Medical Council (GMC) released an educational film called ‘Wood for the Trees’ in the Spring of 2011. This follows the tour of the play and workshops with medical practitioners to discuss about the challenges of treating differently abled patients. The GMC wants to help doctors in their treatment of people who find it difficult to communicate.  The play went to major cities in the UK for invited audiences.

I play a woman who is in a lot of pain but the doctors aren’t listening to me. Instead they assume they know what’s wrong without really communicating, which leads to complications. I was quite an exhausting role to play as my character got closer to death over the course of the story.  I am proud of my performance and hope this film helps doctors.
